UNIQUELY DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED BY
Both common portable generators and portable inverter generators use fossil fuels to run an internal combustion engine.
In a conventional generator, each engine rotation produces one block wave of AC power. For the electricity to produce the standard 120-volt, 60-Hz electricity commonly used in the US, the engine must run at a constant speed of 3,600 rpm, regardless of the load, or how much electrical power you ask of it.
But a decade ago, Onan introduced a new type of machine known as an inverter generator. It was smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient than conventional models.
An inverter generator is designed to produce more AC electrical energy per engine rotation but not in a form that can be used directly. The raw electricity must first be transformed into DC power. See the article on this site explaining DC (direct current) and AC (alternating current). Basically you get DC from a battery and AC from your wall outlets.
Our 4500-watt generator with remote key fob allows you to start and stop your generator from up to 80 feet away. The 4-Stroke Cummins engine with Remote Start and included battery features Intelligauge and has the power you need for your RV, home outage backup or your next project.
These weigh 90 pounds!! It will produce 3,700 to 4,500 watts, you plug appliances or electronics directly into the generator so please use caution and follow certain guidelines.
This size is well-suited for users of recreational vehicles. They’ll produce all the power you need for plug-in appliances like a toaster or microwave, and they’re light enough to unload and carry away to a safe distance from your RV before use.
Whether you need a power supply on the job site or for your latest tailgate party, the versatile P4500i Digital Inverter Generator is a perfect portable power solution. This Generator offers a variety of premium, cutting-edge features at a value that cannot be beat by comparable generator models in its class. Unlike traditional open-frame generators, the4500i safely powers sensitive electronic devices such as laptop computers, cell phones, or kitchen equipment by producing clean and stable electricity that is just as dependable and safe as the power you get from your home. Powered by a four-stroke Onan engine, the p4500i is engineered to automatically adjust its engine speed to produce only the amount of power needed to meet the demand of the load being placed on the generator, increasing fuel efficiency and reducing operating noise and exhaust emissions. The Cummins P4500i Digital Inverter Generator is backed by a three-year warranty and Onans's nationwide service and support network.
Enjoy on/off push-button power with Remote start, battery included, plus Cold Start Technology ensures a quick start in cold weather. Onan's Intelligauge monitors voltage, frequency and operating hours. The foldaway easy-grip handle and included wheel kit with never-flat tires make it a cinch to move your power where you need it. At 3700 starting watts and 4500 running watts, this unit can handle your essentials during an outage, plus it’s the perfect companion for your next camping trip or weekend project. Not only that, but the Volt Guard built-in surge protector prevents overloads and keeps your equipment safe from spikes in voltage. This unit has the outlets you need, including a 120V 30A (TT-30R) RV outlet as well as a 120V 30A outlet (L5-30R) and two 120V 20A household outlets (5-20R). Fill up the 3.8-gallon tank of gasoline, run at 50% and enjoy up to 19 hours of power. From 23 feet, the noise level is a sheepish 52 DB, about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. This unit has a low oil shut-off sensor and includes 0.6 quarts of 10W-30 engine oil so all you’ll need to buy is gasoline. This generator is EPA certified and CARB compliant. Buy with confidence - Onan Support and our nationwide network of service centers will back your purchase up with a 3-year limited warranty and FREE lifetime technical support..
Plenty of Power - With 4500 peak watts and 3,700 running watts, this unit can handle heavy loads from lights and a refrigerator to a home air conditioner and high amperage power tools.
Powerful 7.9 HP Engine - The Cummins engine is a workhorse that provides plenty of power to handle multiple jobs from powering high voltage appliances to heavy duty power tools.
Low Oil Shutoff - Protects your investment by automatically shutting the generator off when it senses that the oil is low.
Power Panel - The power panel includes a selection of outlets for maximum compatibility in your applications including: 2 120V household outlets and 1 120V 30A outlet.
Voltmeter - The panel also includes a voltmeter for measuring voltage output.
An electronic inverter module then turns the DC power back into standard 120-volt, 60-Hz AC power. The resultant AC is no longer in block waves but in sine waves. This is measured in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). To be safe with your microprocessor enabled electronics, the THD should be less than 6%. Inverter generators accomplish this whereas standard portable generators run in 9% or more THD.. This power from inverter generators is ultra-clean and in a form that can now be used in sensitive electronic equipment like medical devices.
In an inverter generator, the engine speed varies depending on the electrical demand being asked of it, which significantly reduces noise and fuel consumption compared to a standard portable generator. The end result is a portable generator with reduced weight and size, and power that is ultra-clean.
Very Quiet,- 17 hours on a tank of gas with low load.- has been very reliable with heavy usage.
I really like this generator. I purchased it almost two months ago for my off grid camp. It starts easily and is very reliable. I have it running continually except when I shut it down to refuel it. This unit has now run for approximately 1500 hours.
It usually runs for about 17 hours on a full tank and that includes running a small electric refrigerator, lighting and charging the standby batteries and all other normal 120V tasks
It runs my power tools and even a 1.5 hp pancake air compressor with no problem.
It is very quiet, reliable and easy to transport. I am buying another one to pair with this one to run the air conditioner. It's very quiet and I have to consciously check to make sure it's running.
Would like to add:
I have Always used alcohol (ethanol) free premium fuel (with Stabil added to the storage containers when filling them) for all outdoor home power equipment. The alcohol degrades components. If I might be storing/not using gasoline for 30 days or more I add Stabil to the fuel to protect the carburetor and unit. This will save many headaches and much expense.
So I started and test ran my brand new Onan P4500i today and my first impression was "Wow this thing is quiet". I really didn't expect it to be that quiet. I chose an Inverter since I live in a townhouse complex and was concerned about powering my necessities when power went out but didn't want to annoy my neighbors. I was very pleased when I finally heard it run. It ran my tv set up, fans and 21 cu. ft. fridge without breaking a sweat. I even tried it out on the 1500W electric kettle and the 1600W microwave where it made a little more noise but it powered them (besides that would only be for a short time anyways). Express RV gives you everything you need (except the gas of course) to run this. It's easy to set up and operate. I'm a guy who enjoys reading manuals and their manual is great providing more than enough detail than I would need. Even their website is well laid out. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone interested in getting a generator..
A portable generator is the kind of investment you'll never fully appreciate until there's an emergency. Quite literally it can be a lifesaver, quickly getting you back up in business or restoring some sense of order to what otherwise might be a chaotic and potentially expensive disaster situation. Perhaps you need a backup supply to power your home in the event of extreme weather conditions leading to disruptive power outages. Maybe you run multiple tools as part of your daily profession and need a regular and reliable backup energy source in your workshop. Whatever your reason for investing in a portable generator, be that emergency, recreation or for additional convenience, they are worth their weight in gold. I'm super happy with my new unit.
